I don't know what's happened to the time - over a year has past and although I've been doing a little bit of research - I've really just been tinkering and nothing substantial has come of it.
My NY Resolutions for 2009 are to:
Work on the family history in depth
Write up my blogs faithfully.

Kia Ora Dale from Marton New Zealand. My name is Levaitai and my grandmother Uaniva was married to Lopeti Sutherland (Robert).
Robert named his first son 'Morrison' and his first daughter 'Christina'. His third and last child was Naomi Sutherland.
Lopeti was my grandmothers second husband. In the lounge hung two pictures of his father who was red haired with your typical waxy moustache and his mother who was Tongan.
Robert was biligual. Speaking fluent English and Tongan. He was in the NZ army and met my grandmother when the New Zealand Army used Tonga as a base during World War 2. He had a sister Georgina and a brother Morrison whom I believe moved and lived in Fiji. My step grandfather was a tall 6'3 or better man.
His son Morrison Sutherland died in Australia. He ended up serving with the Australian Airforce. I think he was part of the supplies and warehousing admin? His youngest daughter Naomi died suddenly age 34 in Sydney in 1982. She lived a very 'arty' fringe life. Very attractive woman. Was into arts, crafts, fashion, modelling, theatre make-up. Moved in Jazz circles in Sydney.
Aunty Christina is the sole survivor on my paternal grandmothers side. She is survived by four sons. She married Peni Latu. They travel between Tonga and New Zealand in their retirement years. Does this help?

His mother is still alive and living in Auckland. She is Christina Latu nee Sutherland. She is the eldest child and daughter of Robert Sutherland (b.1901:d.1984) who is your grandfathers brother. She is the sole remaining child alive. She has four living sons to Peni Latu who she married. She had a brother and sister who both died in Australia -having no children. Their names were Morrison Sutherland (died in Melborne?Brisbane? was in the Australian Airforce). Naomi Sutherland who died suddenly age 34 in Sydney in 1980. Hi - I am the grand daughter of Georgina Mary (Sutherland) I recall visitng her brother Gordon as a child at a logging mill town -?Kinleith Mill in Central North Island perhaps in the 1970s - I have a few very old photos of falmily members (not in particularly great order) that may be able to be copied if you would like them - some from Tonga.
